This morning I took time to meet DMMU National Coordinator Dr Gabriel Pollen, who assured me that his team is on the ground making efforts to provide relief to the people of Nawinda Village in Nalolo District. A total of 26 households in Nawinda Village located in Nalolo’s Royal Capital in Ukolo ward lost property and shelter to a fierce fire yesterday. I will also soon be on the ground in Nawinda to be part of this process. An estimated 100+ citizens remain directly affected by this unfortunate incidence.
It was sad to learn that we have similar incidents in Mazabuka and Kazungula districts. In some of these casualties have actually been recorded. Disasters are unforeseen as such it justifies the call for us as lawmakers to support the need for increased budgetary allocation for responsiveness to such and any possible calamities. A good governance system is anchored on consensus building in matters of national interest.
