Nalolo Area Member of Parliament (MP) Imanga Wamunyima has congratulated Superstar Girls football team for emerging winners in the just ended Nalolo Festive Football tournament that was held in Nasiwayo area.

Speaking after the handover of prizes to the winners, Wamunyima encouraged the players to continue with sporting activities, adding that the next tournament will be bigger than the first one.

“We are happy that this first tournament has gone well and we congratulate the winners. We still encourage all the youths to continue with such events,” he said.

Wamunyima said he will engage more people to sponsor the next tournament so that it is bigger than the first one and will involve more sporting activities other than football.

“We want to bring more sponsors on board so that we increase the tournament momentum and including sports such as netball and volleyball,” he pointed out.

He noted that it is good that the youths from Nalolo East Bank have preoccupied themselves with sports during the 2022 festive period instead of involving themselves in illicit activities.

“We are happy that the youths from this part of the district were kept busy during this season but next time, we shall involve even those from the West bank,” Wamunyima mentioned.

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Nalolo District Secretary Siyengo Kabanda disclosed that thirty-two (32) boys teams and 22 girls teams participated in the festive football tournament that was held at Nasiwayo and Nanjucha primary school grounds.”

“We had a total number of fifty-four (54) teams participating in this tournament hence we had two venues, one in Nanjucha and the other one in Nasiwayo so as to accommodate all the teams,” Kabanda explained.

Meanwhile, Muoyo Ward Councilor Ray Mulowa thanked the area MP for sponsoring the tournament which kept the young people in his ward busy.

“I thank the MP for organising this tournament that created some form of entertainment for the youth during this period. I look forward for more of such events,” Mulowa said.

The winners who thanked the Law Maker for initiating the event were happy that the tournament ended without recording any accidents.

“We are happy that the MP came up with an event for us and we thank God that everything went on well and also thank all the officials that were involved in this tournament,” Nyala Mutanekelwa alluded.
